Gah San ceremony
Photographs of almost all the plots in the cemetery have been taken at various times between 2004 and the present. They are now in albums by Section, labelled with their row and plot number, and, in most cases, the names of the people buried there. In those cases you can search for your ancestor’s name directly: however for the remainder you will need to know the row and plot number beforehand. (If you know the names of any that are not yet labelled, please email us, so we can update the captions and index.)

There are also maps, aerial photos and charts covering the whole cemetery, copies of several reference books, including “Chinese in Jamaica 1957”, “Chinese in Jamaica 1963”, and the pages of the original burial records. CBA Cemetery Gallery

The old handwritten records for all 3,200 burials that took place in the Cemetery have been translated from Chinese and are now in a searchable database online, containing the Chinese name, English name (if given), date of death, age, burial plot, ancestral village and (sometimes) the names of spouses and children. It also points you to the original entry in the handwritten records.
